My name is Sarah and I am a fully qualified and experienced therapist based in the small country village of Diseworth near East Midlands Airport. I work from home in a comfortable and confidential space, centrally located between Derby, Leicester, Loughborough and Nottingham, easily accessible via local transport links. Free onsite parking is available.
Life brings many challenges, and it is understandable that at times we might look for support in facing them. As a therapist, my role is to support you on your journey of self-discovery; to enable you to examine your life and make new, meaningful choices within it.
I offer a chance for you to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day-to-day life. Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives – and perhaps a new understanding of yourself.
Counselling & psychotherapy is not about giving you solutions or advice, but empowering you to make your own changes.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy - First class with honours (BSc Hons 1st Division) and am a full member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Therapy can be helpful for a number of reasons including issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement/loss, relationship difficulties, abuse and trauma, to name a few, or even as a valuable tool for personal and professional development in the workplace.
People often seek therapy because they feel unfulfilled, unhappy or unable to cope with everyday life.
All of the above reasons are normal.
Benefits of therapy include - healing past hurts, raising awareness, changing relationship patterns and building hope for the future.
Therapy takes place in a safe and confidential space within my home, or online to best suit your requirements, where I will listen with sensitivity and empathy – and without judgement. In the therapy space, thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.
As a Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist, I integrate a number of recognised and researched theories to offer a flexible approach to best cater for your individual needs.
I am experienced in helping people with complex trauma symptoms and PTSD, including those that manifest somatically such as physical health complaints.
For therapy to be successful we sometimes need to confront old and uncomfortable feelings, thoughts and behaviours which can be unsettling. Like anything in life, there are no guarantees nor a magic cure for our emotional problems, however, I am committed to support you therapeutically on your journey, whilst maintaining a high standard of professionalism, undergoing regular supervision of my own to ensure safe and ethical practice.
I offer face-to-face, online, or telephone therapy for adult individuals seeking to lead more meaningful and fulfilling lives.
The length of therapy is dependant on the presenting issues, thus I offer short, mid, and long-term psychotherapy to suit the individual needs of each client.
